Tagaytay City—The SVD Laudato Si' Farm hosted a mini recital at the SVD Farm’s St. Peter Fishpond and Gazebo last August 5, 2023. The mini recital acted as the culminating activity for the summer piano classes facilitated by the Divine Word Seminary Tagaytay (DWST).
These classes, which were attended by young students of various ages and prior music experience, began last June 23, 2023, under the guidance of piano teacher Mr. Archie Napoco.
The mini recital began at around 1:00 PM with the opening prayer, a piano performance of the "Ama Namin" by advanced students from the summer piano classes.
Behind the scenes, the technical and photographic aspects of the mini recital were handled by Mr. Jessie Aala, with assistance from Frt. Terrence Basse, SVD.
In his opening message, Mr. Napoco shared his heartfelt gratitude to the SVD Laudato Si' Farm for their support and the invaluable opportunity provided to the students. He extended his thanks to the students and their parents while gently reminding them of the importance of continued practice.
Selected students demonstrated their newfound skills with a piano performance, accompanied by vocal harmonies, of the song "How Lovely Is Your Dwelling Place." This performance showcased not only the students' musical talents but also their ability to collaborate and create a beautiful ensemble.
Rev. Fr. Samuel “Sam” Naceno-Agcaracar, SVD, Executive Director of the SVD Farm and Rector of the SVD-Tagaytay Community, was one of the driving forces behind the summer piano classes. In his message, he revealed that the concept for the project had been a dream of his since his seminary days, and seeing it come to fruition several years later was a moment of immense joy.
Fr. Sam emphasized the significance of projects like this in fostering community connections and building relationships. He expressed hope that the “seed” of the project would expand beyond the realm of music and encompass a broader spectrum of skills, nurturing the growth of both individuals and communities.
The highlight of the event was the distribution of certificates of completion to the students, recognizing their dedication and progress. The certificates were presented by key figures in the project, including Fr. Sam, Mr. Napoco, Rev. Fr. Stanislav Orečný, SVD, Fr. Jhon Crisostomo, SVD, and Frt. Jonathan Florino, SVD, who acted as the coordinator for the project.
Afterwards, the attendees were treated to a performance of the song "Canticle of the Sun" by Fr. Sam, Fr. Stan, Frt. Jonathan, and Fr. Jhon Crisostomo Jr., SVD, General Manager of the SVD Farm. Finally, the event concluded on a high note with a heartfelt blessing song.
