Tagaytay City—Following the first bamboo-planting activity at the SVD Laudato Si' Farm last October 3, 2021, two other bamboo-planting activities were conducted at the Farm last May 20 and June 17, 2023.
Members of the SVD-Tagaytay Community, including priests and seminarians, as well as other volunteers, participated in these activities.
Last May 20, 2023, a successful bamboo-planting activity was conducted at the SVD Farm in honor of San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of farmers.
The joint efforts of the Farm and the overall SVD-Tagaytay Community, the Divine Word Institute of Mission Studies (DWIMS) Alumni Association, the Kenosis Class, SVD-ALS Tagaytay, and St. Jude Catholic School (SJCS) culminated in the meaningful event.
Fertilizers for the bamboo plants were provided by Greenland Organic Fertilizer.

Last June 17, 2023, the SVD Farm conducted another bamboo-planting activity as an advanced celebration for the next day as Father's Day.
The event, guided by the theme, "SVD Family: Love of God and Care for the Earth," saw participants come together to plant bamboo trees, fostering a deeper connection with nature and promoting the preservation of our common home.
The assembly for the event began early in the morning, around 7:30 AM, at the St. Peter Fishpond and Gazebo. Afterwards, after a short program, participants were provided with the bamboo plants that they planted at the designated planting areas across the Farm.

Bamboo plays a pivotal role in ecosystems such as the SVD Farm. Its extensive root systems help stabilize soil, preventing erosion and landslides. In fact, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) considers bamboo as a “priority reforestation species,” contributing to the country's forest cover and sustainable development. Embracing bamboo planting not only promotes environmental sustainability but also supports local livelihoods and economies.
The SVD Farm hopes that these bamboo-planting activities, as well as other planting activities, contribute to sustainability and environmental conservation.
