Tagaytay City—The SVD Laudato Si' Farm conducted a Fire Safety Training and Drill last June 1, 2023.
The event, which was organized in collaboration with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)—Tagaytay FS Cavite, aimed to equip the Farm's employees with essential knowledge and skills to prevent and respond effectively to fire-related incidents.
The lectures were held at the St. Peter Fishpond and Gazebo, was facilitated by FO1 Patrick Paulo Angat and FO1 Mark Kevin Sarmiento from the Bureau of Fire Protection. The seminar covered crucial topics such as fire prevention and suppression, emphasizing the importance of proactive measures to avoid potential fire hazards.
Participants were given a comprehensive demonstration of the proper use of fire extinguishers, essential knowledge that can make a significant difference in controlling small fires before they escalate. Additionally, the seminar highlighted the appropriate actions to take in the event of a fire emergency, ensuring that all attendees were well-prepared to handle such situations with confidence.
The fire drill was conducted at the Farm’s vacated parking lot. Employees of the Farm actively participated in the drill which served as a practical application of the knowledge they gained during the seminar.
This year's event served as a follow-up to the successful Fire Safety Seminar held last June 20, 2022. Last year’s event, facilitated by SFO2 Rosemarie T. Rotairo, FO1 Karl Michael B. Imperial, and FO1 Jet Joseph T. Escalona, covered similar fire safety topics.
After the opening prayer, the facilitators conducted lectures at the Chapel of the Virgin of the Poor for Farm employees, teaching them about fire prevention and appropriate measures the Farm could implement to ensure fire safety.
Afterwards, a demonstration of the proper use of fire extinguishers was held at the area in front of what would be the Oies Kitchenette.
Throughout the duration of the event, strict adherence to minimum health protocols was meticulously observed.
