News—SVD Farm joins nationwide tree-planting activity as partner farm of Dep't of Agriculture 4A

Tagaytay City—The SVD Laudato Si' Farm participated in a nationwide tree-planting activity as a partner farm of the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office (RFO) 4A. The event, conducted last June 23, 2023, was a heartwarming display of environmental stewardship and commitment to sustainability.

The activity was conducted in support of the celebration of the Department of Agriculture’s 125th anniversary, guided with the theme "Kagawaran ng Agrikultura: 125 Taong Naglilingkod Tungo sa Masaganang Agrikultura at Maunlad na Ekonomiya."

The SVD Farm has long been dedicated to sustainable agricultural practices and environmental conservation. As a partner farm of the Department of Agriculture, the Farm exemplifies the spirit of cooperation between government institutions and private sectors in fostering a greener and more prosperous nation.

The activity began with a short gathering at the St. Peter Fishpond and Gazebo. The gathering  featured a short reading from the Bible and a blessing from Rev. Fr. Atilano Corcuera, Jr., SVD.

After the blessing, the attendees to the event proceeded to a designated area near the Kubo Laudato Si' of the Farm in order to plant trees.

On the same day, aside from the Department of Agriculture event held at the SVD Farm, various other tree-planting activities also took place at other selected areas in Cavite, as well as the department’s partner farms from Region 4A/CALABARZON and other regions.

Prior to this tree-planting activity, the SVD Farm had also facilitated other similar planting activities, including two separate bamboo-planting events held last June 17, 2023, and last May 20, 2023.

“(I hope that the Farm can be) an avenue for the government, for organizations to work together. … This is possible because Pope Francis said in Laudato Si': ‘The way to build a common home is to work together for the environment’,’ said Rev. Fr. Samuel “Sam” Naceno-Agcaracar, SVD, Executive Director of the SVD Farm and Rector of the SVD-Tagaytay Community, in a later interview during an episode of the Masaganang Buhay TV program at TV5’s OnePH Cignal TV Channel 1,
