Feature—George and Melly Tagle, parents of Cardinal Tagle, visit the SVD Farm and share their son’s advocacy for the environment
In a visit to the SVD Farm, Mr. George and Mrs. Melly Tagle, parents of Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, shared their pride in their son's longstanding commitment to environmental protection.
Their visit was marked by a reflection on the Cardinal's contributions to environmental advocacy, particularly during his time as Bishop of the Diocese of Imus and his tenure in Manila.
During their visit, the Tagles were accompanied by Ms. Clariz Cruz, the SVD Farm’s Liaison Officer.
The Tagles spoke fondly of Cardinal Tagle's efforts to safeguard the environment, beginning in Cavite and continuing beyond. "Our son was one of those who pushed for the protection of the environment, even when he was still the Bishop of the Diocese of Imus," George Tagle recalled. "When he was transferred to Manila, he continued that concept. To him, it was important to care for the environment."
Cavite, known for its vast farmlands, has seen its share of challenges with regards to environmental conservation. Over the years, the region has faced the pressures of commercialization, leading to significant changes in its landscape.
However, George Tagle noted that Cardinal Tagle's advocacy played a key role in promoting the protection of the province's environment, supported by the SVD Farm’s advocacy
"We are happy that people are respecting this sacred space," Melly Tagle said, emphasizing the importance of preserving natural areas like the SVD Farm.
