Tagaytay City—The partnership between the SVD Laudato Si' Farm and De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) began in earnest last March 6, 2024, during the orientation for the internship program for the eleven Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management students from DLSL.
The event, which was also joined by two Culinary Arts interns from STI Tagaytay, was held at the Prayer Hall of the Ecospirituality Center.
The orientation commenced with a prayer led by Rev. Fr. Stanislav Orečný, SVD, Chaplain of the SVD Farm, setting a spiritual tone for the day.
Afterwards, Rev. Fr. Alexander Muaña, SVD, House Admonitor of the Divine Word Seminary Tagaytay, delivered the opening remarks, underlining the importance of the internship program in fostering experiential learning at the SVD Farm.
Ms. Joylene Leynes, Operations Management Department Head of the SVD Farm, provided an in-depth orientation about the SVD Farm, offering insights into its mission, vision, and sustainable practices.
Chef Patrick Henry V. Maravilla, Program Chair of the Institute of Culinary Arts at DLSL, then introduced the DLSL interns, highlighting the unique learning opportunities that the SVD Farm-DLSL partnership offers to the interns.
Dr. Rose Marie Salazar-Clemeña, Management Consultant at the SVD Farm, then presented the general orientation of the OJT program, emphasizing its alignment with the SVD Farm's commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. Chef Roberto G. Clemeña, resident chef of the Ecospirituality Center, then detailed the specifics of the Culinary Arts OJT Program, emphasizing hands-on experience. For the Hospitality Management OJT Program, Dr. Rose also provided insights into the program's structure and objectives.
Afterwards, Ms. Evelyn Evangelista and Ms. Karen Peji, Human Resources (HR) Officers of the SVD Farm, shared the HR policies of the SVD Farm governing the OJT program, ensuring a smooth and enriching experience for the interns. Afterwards, Ms. Jhosell Martal, DWST Information Officer, introduced the Mo. Helena Stollenwerk Dormitory of the SVD Tagaytay Community.
The event concluded with closing remarks and a blessing from Rev. Fr. Ricardo Crisostomo, Jr., SVD, the General Manager of the SVD Farm, expressing gratitude for the collaboration and imparting his blessings for the interns' journey.
The orientation program symbolized a tangible step forward in the partnership between the SVD Farm and DLSL, demonstrating their commitment to providing holistic education and practical experience to the next generation of culinary and hospitality professionals.
