News—"Not us, Lord, but You," says Fr. Sam Agcaracar, SVD, during thanksgiving homily after A Banquet to Remember

Tagaytay City—To give thanks to God for the successful event "A Banquet to Remember," Rev. Fr. Samuel "Sam" N. Agcaracar, SVD, Rector of the SVD Tagaytay Community and Executive Director of the SVD Farm, presided over the Holy Mass at the SVD Laudato Si' Farm's Chapel of the Virgin of the Poor last April 10, 2024.

A Banquet to Remember, which was a commemoration of 60 glorious years of SVD presence in Tagaytay City, was held last April 9, 2024, at the SVD Tagaytay Gymnasium. The celebration brought together members of the SVD Tagaytay Community and its supporters during a dinner and dance drama about the 60-year history of the SVD Tagaytay Community.

In his homily, Fr. Sam reflected on the significance of the 60th anniversary of the SVD Tagaytay Community and the successful A Banquet to Remember. He expressed deep gratitude to God for the success of the event, acknowledging in particular the contributions of the members of the SVD Farm Family who joined the overall SVD Tagaytay Community in ensuring the success of the event's festivities.

"We do not grab the credit. Not us, Lord, but You," Fr. Sam remarked, echoing sentiments of humility and thanksgiving. He also reintroduced the SVD Farm SVD Farm as the newest member and the “latest achievement” of the SVD Tagaytay Community.

Fr. Sam emphasized the importance of recognizing God's presence and love in every aspect of life, drawing from the profound message encapsulated in John 3:16, a verse cherished by Christians. “The summary of the Bible is in John 3.16. The summary of our Christian faith is in John 3.16,” he said.

Fr. Sam shared anecdotes and reflections, illustrating the transformative power of faith and the enduring message of love inherent in the Christian faith. He highlighted the role of the Eucharist as a source of strength and guidance for the community, emphasizing its significance in their journey towards eternal life.

“This is always the challenge for us, every day—to see that God is alive, that He gives Himself to us in the Eucharist, that we encounter Him every day. Nevertheless, this Eucharist is not just for us today. The Eucharist will accompany us in our journey towards the end, and the end is eternal life,” said Fr. Sam.

As the celebration concluded, Fr. Sam extended gratitude to all those who supported the SVD Tagaytay Community.  He encouraged everyone to continue placing their trust in God and to remain steadfast in their faith.
