News—SVD Farm family celebrates Laudato Si' Week with tree-planting activity

Tagaytay City—As part of their celebration of Laudato Si' Week, members of the SVD Laudato Si' Farm family participated in a tree-planting activity last May 25, 2024, that expressed the institution’s communal commitment to environmental stewardship.

The day began early, with the assembly and registration at 6:30 AM at Kubo Aloysius and the Gulayan ni San Rafael.

Fr. Samuel "Sam" N. Agcaracar, SVD, Rector of the SVD Tagaytay Community and Executive Director of the SVD Farm, welcomed the participants with an inspiring message at 7:00 AM. This was followed by an opening prayer led by Ms. Marcelina Cacal, Spirituality Officer, who facilitated a Body Prayer.

Afterwards, Fr. Ricardo "Jhon" Crisostomo, Jr., SVD, General Manager, blessed the seedlings and the attendees at Gulayan ni San Rafael. The fruit-bearing tree seedlings were generously donated by Ligaya ng Panginoon.

Following the blessing, participants underwent a quick orientation about Laudato Si' Day before heading to the tree-planting sites beside the SVD Farm's livestock section of the St. Raphael Organic Farming Area. This hands-on activity not only promised to contribute to the environment but also fostered a sense of community and shared responsibility among the members of the SVD Farm family.

The event concluded with a closing message from Fr. Jhon. Snacks were then served at the kubos in front of the Gulayan ni San Rafael for participants to relax and reflect on the morning's meaningful activities.
